The Colour Selection trend book: a compendium of the latest colour trends in the bathroom
A good one
and a half years ago, the German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung
Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. [VDS]) went out on a limb by deciding to make
colour in the bathroom the focus of the 2019 edition of Pop up my Bathroom.
But the VDS
trend scouts were confident that the signs of an emerging desire for more
colour in the home that were becoming apparent in the interiors sector would
eventually make their way into the bathroom as well. The potential for a bathroom that
adapts colour systems to reflect and enhance its users’ lifestyle is huge –
reason enough for the VDS to make colour the focal point of its Pop up my
Bathroom trend platform.
And the
subject of the Pop up my Bathroom Colour Selection didn’t just have its finger
firmly on the pulse, it struck a chord with the sector as well: rarely has a
topic dominated communications before, during and after the ISH to such an
extent as this year’s motto “Colour in the Bathroom”. Especially as a great many
exhibitors picked up on the theme and brought it to life.
Trendbook Colour Selection: Pop up my Bathroom ISH 2019
As the
bathroom increasingly evolves into a lifestyle space, more colour is finding
its way into the bathroom again as well. Besides featuring up-to-the-minute product examples, the trend book also
provides an introduction to the systems behind various design concepts that can
be used to bring colour and life to the bathroom – some of them bold, others
more restrained. Bathroom planners and the industry
are responding to the desire for individually and boldly designed bathrooms
with an ever-growing variety of finishes and unusual arrangements – a trend
that now looks set to gain momentum rapidly.
And variety is the order of the day when it
comes to materials too: besides wood, marble is also playing a prominent role,
as are new kinds of metallic finishes for fittings, furniture surfaces and
accessories. As a result, interior designers now have the scope they need not just to
play with matt and gloss surfaces but to use totally new design elements as
well. That’s why, in its Bathroom Experience segment, the ISH 2019 showcased a
host of interior and colour trends that are encouraging the bathroom’s
development into a lifestyle space. During the trade show event, the Pop
up my Bathroom trend forum organised by Messe Frankfurt and the VDS used the
Colour Selection installation to demonstrate the opportunities the current
colour trends in interior design represent for the sanitary sector.
Along with
additional interesting information, the12 colour trends featured in Colour
Selection have now been compiled in a trend book. You can
