Mathias Knigge, head of grauwert (consultancy for inclusive design products and services), advises companies on older target groups, accessibility and universal design. The designer and engineer has acquired a profound knowledge as research fellow in the research project „sentha“ (founded by the German research society (DFG) / University of the arts Berlin (UDK)). His main activities are studies, training (sensitisation), user-tests and product-development. He is the author of various publications and speaker at symposiums. As board member of EDAD (Design for All – Germany) and visiting professor, Mathias Knigge establishes Design for All as a reasonable response of product development to demographic change.
Every two years, the German Sanitation, Heating and Air Conditioning
Association presents awards to
all sorts of excellently designed bathroom products that make life considerably
easier. The solutions
honoured with the ZVSHK Award should also be characterised by cross-generational
usability and appeal. Colour plays an
important role in that – and not just as a design tool. Mathias Knigge’s presentation provides an exclusive
look at the products and winners assessed by the jury at the ISH the previous
day.
