It’s now 44 years since Goslar-based company Alape developed the built-in washbasin EW 3. The relatively small round basin with the white glaze was designed for installation in horizontal washplace surfaces in sanitary spaces. It was also the first industrially produced basin of its kind.

The highly acclaimed university competition for sustainable construction organised by the U.S. Department of Energy has been honouring energy self-sufficient building innovations for future living concepts. From 130 entries submitted, two European teams qualified. Duravit supported both of them.
