Many companies specialising in sanitation, heating and air conditioning are feeling the effects of the shortage of skilled workers, and this trend is set to intensify in coming years. On one side of the scales, they have healthy order books; on the other, not enough qualified skilled workers and applicants. Taking “We present the future” as their slogan, the representatives from Werkstatt Bad (the “bathroom workshop”) are planning to give a hands-on demonstration of rational installation methods in their talk.
The idea is to shift work from the construction site to the workshop. Their approach can be summed up as follows: all the processes and work required must be halved, but customers’ higher quality standards must still be fulfilled. The objective is to sell and install more higher-quality bathrooms in less time – and with fewer employees. The solution is based on a prefabrication concept or, to put it another way, breaking the whole bathroom down into modules.
With this system, man-hours are shifted from the construction site to the workshop. It means that planning takes more time, but in return, the bathroom can be prefabricated in the workshop. This reduces the strain on fitters’ joints and protects their health. And because fitters have a knack for technology, they will find it easy to complete the steps that prefabrication requires.
