Body & Soul: Peter Ippolito about the bathroom as a material-oriented world of experience
Future bathrooms
suggest a lot of connectivity in a place where we usually spend time by
ourselves. Digitization is changing our view of things, but in our perception,
the bathroom remains a calming retreat from the always-accessible life, a place
that fulfils the yearning for oneself. As a material-oriented world of
experience, the bathroom thus continues to be the perfect place to harmonize
body and soul.
Peter Ippolito studied architecture in
Stuttgart and Chicago. During this period, he was employed as the assistant to
Prof. Ben Nicholson (Chicago) and gathered practical experience in the Studio
Daniel Libeskind (Berlin). In 2002, he founded the Ippolito Fleitz Group
together with Gunter Fleitz. The multidisciplinary design studio achieved an
international name with interior design, communications and product design
projects. In 2015, Peter Ippolito and Gunter Fleitz were accepted as the first
German designers from the field of interior design into the 'Interior Design
Hall of Fame'. In addition to his design work, Ippolito was active repeatedly
as a teacher and is in demand as a speaker or jury member. Peter Ippolito is a
member of the German Designer Club.
