Area by dreipuls: beckoning the light

Modern living means the greatest-possible flexibility in all areas of life. Area's hallmark is a modern, versatile character that fits in with any furnishing style. A movement of the hand is all it takes to realise what is so special about the filigree LED luminaire. Area by Dreipuls means variable light – as if by magic.

With the LED luminaire Area, designer and Dreipuls managing director Matthias Pinkert aims both to satisfy users' individual needs and ensure practical functionality. As with other products by Dreipuls, the principle is simple and effective: a hand gesture is used to open or close illuminated areas without touching the luminaire itself. Sensors detect which area the user wants to activate and translate the gesture into light. The result: light as and where it's needed.

Once an illuminated area has been activated, it can also be moved along the length of the luminaire intuitively. The light can be adjusted to illuminate a narrow spot or a much wider area, thus ensuring energy-saving, eco-friendly usage. In addition, individual elements can be combined as needed up to a total length of three metres.

The design element lends itself to very versatile usage. Especially in rooms that call for high standards of hygiene (such as the bathroom or kitchen), the contactless technology can demonstrate its benefits to full advantage whilst simultaneously showing off its modern aesthetics – regardless of whether it serves private or commercial purposes. Whether it's used for offices, shops, trade fairs or as a highlight in stylish domestic settings, the lighting element always blends in discreetly with the existing ambience.

The Area modules are available in three lengths: 60 cm, 90 cm and 120 cm. One aluminium module with a length of 60 cm contains 24 LEDs that use just 16 watts to produce a pleasant, warm-white light. In addition, a connecting cable can be used to combine the desired number of modules into a single unit.
