ISH 2013: complementary programme with new highlights

01/13

The industry is gearing up to launch its new products onto the world market for the bathroom, building services, energy, air-conditioning and renewable energies at ISH in Frankfurt am Main from 12 to 16 March 2013. Parallel to the extensive range of products to be shown by the 2,300-plus exhibitors, the multi-faceted complementary programme will offer an excellent opportunity to exchange information and take a closer look at subjects of topical interest to the sector. The emphasis in all parts of the complementary programme is on sustainability and energy saving. At the same time, the fair will be distinguished by a variety of new highlights for both the water and energy sections.

ISH Water: Water for People

New at 2013 will be the wall + floor special show in Hall 3.0. With this new format, innovative products and furnishing concepts for the floor and wall will be represented at ISH for the first time. Part of wall + floor will be the Pop up my Bathroom Atelier as a main communicative meeting place. There, the focus will be on creative subjects, such as bathroom interiors, holistic bathroom planning, design subjects and bathroom trends. In addition to the innovations of ISH exhibitors on show, visitors will have the chance to attend over 30 interesting workshops and lectures on holistic bathroom planning during the fair.

Rounding off this area of Hall 3.0 will be a presentation of bathroom trends for 2013/14 at the Pop up my Bathroom Trend Forum, to which the Association of the German Sanitation Industry (Vereinigung der Deutschen Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. – VDS) invites all ISH visitors, e.g., representatives of the media and industry, as well as, in particular, artisans, bathroom planners and exhibition employees in the retail and installation trades, to meet and exchange ideas and opinions. On show will be three new bathroom scenarios giving a foretaste of the coming season.

Sustainability is one of the major themes in the complementary programme of the ISH Water section. It will be taken up and dealt with in depth by Blue Responsibility, an initiative of the VDMA Fittings Association and the Sanitation Industry Forum (IFS). The aim of the campaign is to promote the responsible use of water and to illuminate the multifarious aspects of sustainability in the bathroom. The German branded fittings industry stands for sustainable sanitary solutions that meet these demands. The top themes of the campaign at ISH will be drinking-water hygiene and bathroom architecture in a time of demographic change. Visitors to the exhibition stand of the German Swimming Pool and Wellness Association (Bundesverband Schwimmbad & Wellness e.V. – BSW) will find a lecture area and lounge (Hall 5.1). The ‘Valuable Water’ special show revolves around the subjects of drinking-water hygiene and heating safety.

Competitions

The great importance attached by ISH to climate protection, energy efficiency and sustainability is clearly illustrated by the Design Plus powered by ISH competition of Messe Frankfurt. One of Germany’s top design awards, Design Plus honours outstanding products of ISH exhibitors, which are distinguished by an optimum combination of sustainability, aesthetic qualities and functionality. The award-winning solutions will be on show in a special exhibition throughout the fair.

In cooperation with EDAD, European Institute for Design for All in Germany, the Central Association of Sanitation, Heating and Air-Conditioning (ZVSHK) will hold the first ‘Multi-Generation Bathroom Comfort’ competition on the occasion of ISH 2013. The award spotlights innovative bathroom products that combine the requirements on barrier-free construction with aspects of comfort and safety. The AIT Award, which is given by AIT architecture magazine, will be presented for the first time at the coming ISH.
