The German Sanitary Industry Association e. V.: A shower of ideas for the bathroom

The German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. / VDS) is the umbrella organisation for German companies in the bathroom and sanitary sectors and consists of nine member associations from industry, specialist wholesale and the specialist trades. The SME segment of the industry includes 48,858 companies from all three areas (233 companies in the sanitary industry, including other technical building valves, 275 wholesale companies, 48,350 skilled trade and fitting companies; the wholesale and skilled trade companies are also active in the HVAC sector) with a combined total turnover of €24.9bn, of which €20.7bn is attributable to domestic sales and €4.2bn to foreign sales, and a workforce of 515,000 people (total workforce of the industry as a whole, wholesale, skilled trades). (Estimated figures; last updated in November 2018 for 2018; source: ifo Institut on behalf of Messe Frankfurt / VDS / BDH / VdZ).

The VDS presents the joint interests of its members to the public, in particular by means of comprehensive PR and publicity for the bathroom as living space. In addition to addressing the increasing demand for individual – and increasingly age-appropriate – solutions, the industry also meets its responsibility for the sustainable use of resources with water-saving bathroom technology and expert installation.

The VDS is listed in both the German Federal Parliament’s Register of Associations and the European Commission’s Register of Lobbyists. Click here for further information about the VDS.
