The bathroom as living space at ISH 2025

This time, Pop up my Bathroom is all about people. The presentations are intended to make trade fair visitors aware of how much user needs are an integral part of bathroom planning.

Human scale: people are the benchmark in the bathroom

It is the everyday tasks and special moments, the time-outs, the physical experience and the daily rituals that make the bathroom a real living space.

Human Scale:
1. body care

The line between personal hygiene and personal care is blurred, and much of both is part of our everyday routine.

Human Scale:
2. personal hygiene in the bathroom

The washbasin also plays an important role in personal hygiene.

Human Scale:
3. everyday routines in the bathroom

We wash our hands 6 to 10 times a day, usually shower every day or every other day and use the toilet six to ten times a day.

Human Scale:
4. mental activities in the bathroom

How many great ideas have you had during a revitalising shower? How relaxing can a bath in a free-standing bathtub be? And where better for people to be alone and retreat to a quiet place to think in peace?

Human Scale:
5. fitness in the bathroom

For many people today, maintaining and training fitness is part of their everyday routine - almost like personal hygiene.

Human Scale:
6. pleasure & fun in the bathroom

Children in particular love the bathroom: here they can play with water at the tap or splash around in the bath and blow bubbles to their heart's content.

Human Scale:
7. styling (decoration and furnishings) in the bathroom

The bathroom is a static room per se, as the water-bearing sanitary products almost invariably dictate the aesthetics of the room.

Human Scale:
8. cleaning and organisation

In a recent survey of over 3,000 bathroom users conducted by the German Sanitary Industry Association (VDS), 93% of respondents said that they would look for hygienic and easy-care fittings when redesigning their bathroom.

Human Scale:
9. relaxation and wellness

Your own wellness oasis, a private spa or simply a retreat with a water connection: the concepts for describing a private bathroom with added value are diverse.

Human Scale:
10. Act sustainably

Water is a scarce and increasingly expensive resource, and energy prices are likely to remain high in the long term. Regardless of the size of the household, one of the greatest potential savings lies in the day-to-day use of the bathroom.

Human Scale:
11. healthcare

People's perception of their health is no longer based solely on how they feel, but also on what they actively do for their health.
