Incava: an architectural shower unit by Axor

A shower area free of visible fittings – that is Axor Incava, designed by Antonio Citterio – an integrated unit that harmoniously combines a thermostatic mixer, hand shower and shelf, whilst disappearing almost entirely into the wall.

A shower environment
liberated from visible technology – transformed into a sanctuary of
tranquillity and architectural beauty. Axor Incava, designed by Antonio
Citterio, is an integrated object that unites a thermostat control, hand-held shower
and storage niche – whilst disappearing almost entirely into the wall.
“Axor Incava represents a
fundamental shift in bathroom design,” says designer Antonio Citterio. “By
eliminating protruding parts—no handles, knobs, or visible elements—it
transforms the bathroom from a technical space into a clear, integrated
environment where the ritual of bathing becomes a tranquil experience. You move
beyond the traditional notion of the bathroom and gain an entirely new spatial
quality.”
11 Millimeters Design
With its
understated design, Incava is particularly well suited to elegant, high-quality
shower areas. Its signature soft-square escutcheon, extending just 11
millimeters from the wall, frames a flat front surface – strikingly unobtrusive.
Within this
architectural clarity, function and form blend effortlessly:
- flush-integrated
Select buttons for precise thermostat control
- two
finely knurled push buttons for water volume and temperature
- an
almost invisible 1-jet hand-held shower that appears only with a gentle press
- a
spacious ten-centimeter-deep storage niche
The
hand-held shower elevates the moment of showering with a soft, enveloping
PowderRain spray. The niche features subtle water drainage and an optional
dimmable ambient light, casting a warm, atmospheric glow across the space. The soft
PowderRain spray of the hand-held shower is designed to enhance your shower
experience. In addition, the escutcheon, niche back panel, and control labels
can be finished in a wide range of FinishPlus surfaces and further personalised
with Axor Signature.
Design Freedom Meets Effortless Convenience
However,
the versatility of Incava – which is also suitable for the bathtub – is not
limited to its surface-level design. The trim set can be easily removed,
providing immediate access to the installation. Distributors can be positioned
freely across compatible Axor components, ensuring freedom in bathroom design.
The niche’s back panel can match the surrounding wall material or be specified
in elegant black glass. With Axor Signature, personalized symbols and custom
engravings are also available. This makes Incava particularly interesting to
the hospitality sector.
