Simply connected: new E² faucet generation from Schell

05/25

Schell wants to set new standards in building management with its new faucet generation E². Thanks to the factory-fitted Bluetooth, intuitive app parameterisation and documentation will be possible in seconds in future. The new ToF (Time of Flight) sensor technology is also designed to ensure accurate operation with no accidental triggering – even while wearing hi-vis vests.

The E² faucet generation with Bluetooth inside comprises wash basin faucets from the well-known Shell Xeris, Celis and Puris series. With the user-friendly E² app, the new generation of taps within Bluetooth range can be parameterised in seconds and data can be conveniently documented. The time-of-flight technology of the dashboard sensors prevents unwanted triggering, for example due to reflections or light reflections from hi-vis vests. An LED in the sensor window makes it possible to directly recognise a low battery status or an activated cleaning stop, among other things.

User-friendly, intuitive E² app

The integrated Bluetooth inside creates a direct connection between the faucet and the app. This makes it easy to save settings from one faucet as a profile and then copy them to another faucet or – by using the group manager – to multiple faucets. For recurring commissioning work, this helps to avoid human error while also saving time. Adjust stagnation flushes to maintain drinking water quality or view battery levels, faucet statuses and logs – all of this is possible with just a few taps in the app.

The app also offers three preconfigured operating modes to make parameter setting on E² faucets even faster. In ‘Save water’ mode, the flow of water stops sooner after the user leaves the sensor area – saving valuable resources and improving operating efficiency. The ‘Save electricity’ mode extends the battery life by optimising the sensor frequency. ‘Comfort’ mode improves the handwashing experience by starting faster and keeping the water flowing for longer. An ‘expert mode’ is also available, which offers customised configuration of options to match local circumstances and customer needs, e.g. detection range, flow/follow-up time, etc.

Easy programming and needs-based stagnation flushing

With E² faucets, stagnation flushes are not only available for programming at fixed intervals – such as every 24 hours – but also on a scheduled series of dates, thanks to the built-in real-time clock. This means that flush times can be different at weekends than during the week, for example. This makes it easy for facility managers to set up flushes at times when usage is lower than normal. A third and brand-new option introduced by the new faucet generation is demand-based flushing, a feature that takes into account the way the faucets are being used.

After allowing for the level of usage on the faucet, flushes are recalculated daily and only carried out if they are needed to guarantee an exchange of water. Flushing is skipped if usage levels are high enough. This ensures compliance with the 72-hour rule (VDI 6023) at all times, without wasting water on flushes unnecessarily.

The app simplifies the record-keeping process needed for legal compliance, with convenient logging of triggering events and water consumption (calculated). All of these logs can also be exported or sent out to external systems for further processing. For straightforward data access and management, users can create buildings and rooms as needed in the app. A clear-cut visualisation displays faucet status information and actions required.

Reliable scalding protection, sophisticated design

All HD-M faucets in the new E² series are equipped with mechanical hot water limiting, allowing individual adjustment of the maximum flow of hot water through the faucet. The Xeris E²-T features a ThermoProtect thermostat with reliable, high-precision anti-scalding protection and instant water stop if the cold water line fails. The new generation exhibits a timeless design that has been painstakingly engineered to include features like a robust, vandal-proof all-metal housing with anti-theft, recessed flow regulator and an easy-to-clean surface.
