Wednesday, 19 March

On Wednesday, the VDS lecture programme will focus entirely
on people. This also applies to the daily lecture by trend researcher and
design journalist Frank A. Reinhardt, who will put the trends of ISH 2025 in
the sanitary room solution area in relation to bathroom users. In the
discussion round "Hygiene in the bathroom", panellists Peter Arens
(Schell), Dennis Jäger (SBZ) and Tim Baral (Baral Heizung & Bad) will
address the special need for cleanliness in the bathroom and look at this
aspect from different angles. Internationally renowned colour expert Karl Johan
Bertilsson and Sunny Tirunagaru will talk about how colour can create
emotionality in the bathroom. The second panel discussion of the day will focus
on how bathroom planning can involve the bathroom user in the planning process.
The panellists are Yvonne Wagner (H.D. Wagner GmbH), Nadia Stanke
(stankeinteriordesign) and Thorsten Moortz (handwerk.live). In the CEO talk,
Dennis Jäger (SBZ) talks to Roberto Martinez from Kaldewei.
10:00-10:30 a.m.: ISH 2025 Trends in the Solutions Field Bathrooms
Speaker: Frank A. Reinhardt (FAR.consulting)
In interior design, the bathroom is considered a specialised
discipline in which bathroom planners must have both design expertise and
technical knowledge as well as a good overview of currently available products.
For several years now, they have received support in this area from the Pop up
my Bathroom platform - an initiative launched by the Vereinigung deutsche
Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. (VDS) and Messe Frankfurt on the occasion of the ISH.
This year, Pop up my Bathroom will once again describe future developments in
the bathroom as part of a trend exhibition. Trend researcher and curator Frank
A. Reinhardt provides an outlook on the trends that will take centre stage this
time. Followed by a guided tour of the Pop up my Bathroom exhibition and the
hot spots in the bathroom solution field, the trend lecture is the perfect way
to start the day at the trade fair.
12:00 - 12:30 Uhr pm: Branchen-Talk: Hygiene in the Bathroom
Industry-Talk with Peter Arens (Schell), Dennis Jäger (SBZ), Tim Baral (Baral Bad & Heizung)
Moderation: Jens J. Wischmann (VDS)
Hygiene in the bathroom - you'd think that would be a matter of course. However, a lot has changed in terms of hygiene culture, both in terms of sanitary products and consumer demands - at least since the coronavirus: innovative surfaces, flushing systems and drainage technology as well as the shower toilet, changing standards and a new awareness of the problem of ensuring drinking water quality meet the customer's desire for a balance between personal hygiene, comfort and ease of cleaning. The bathroom must not only function, but also look good and take up little time. In the latest VDS baseline study #germanbathrooms, 93% of respondents stated that they wanted to prioritise hygiene and ease of care when redesigning their bathroom. And the issue behind the wall is also more topical than ever (keyword: legionella). VDS Managing Director Jens J. Wischmann discusses what else is needed for a hygienic bathroom with his talk guests.
2:30-3:00 pm: The future of colour in bathroom design!
Speaker: Karl Johan Bertilsson and Sunny Tirunagaru
How should we think about
colours in our bathroom design? The fact is that we are leaving the era of only
wanting neutral colours in all our spaces to an era of welcoming colours. We
are coming into an era when we need to have emotional connections to our
spaces. Colour is one of the most important tools we have to create emotional
connections. Our bathrooms are already spaces for reflections and becoming more
and more spaces of well-being. And it is never about a single colour on a
single furniture or detail, it is always a question of creating a full colour
gestalt of our space. Our future colour design of bathrooms need a conscious
approach of the choice of furniture, material and light to create the perfect
emotional colour gestalt we want.
3:15-3:45 pm: Industry Talk: Human-Centred Bathroom Planning
Branchen-Talk mit Yvonne Wagner (H.D. Wagner GmbH), Nadia Stanke (stankeinteriordesign), Thorsten Moortz (handwerk.live)
Host: Frank A. Reinhardt (FAR.consulting)
At Pop up my Bathroom, the focus this time is entirely on people. They set the standard for bathroom layout, equipment functions and design. There is a growing realisation worldwide that we need to focus more on people and their needs in order to solve the problems of the future. This applies to architecture and urban planning just as much as it does to barrier-free offers or ergonomic and individualised products. Of course: washing hands, showering, bathing - these are some of the basic functions in the bathroom. But it is the multitude of other activities that make the bathroom a truly multifunctional room in the home. But how can you implement people-orientated bathroom planning? Frank A. Reinhardt talks about this with his guests.
