A hotel between luxury, art and Munich exclusivity

There
are certainly many luxury hotels in Bavaria's capital Munich, but the Hotel
Koenigshof, as part of Marriott International's Luxury Collection, wants to be
more: it wants to combine the cosmopolitan attitude of the city with its
history and culture. And it not only wants to be a hotel for guests of this
metropolis, but also a meeting place for the people of Munich.
“The idea was not only to open another luxury hotel in Munich, but
also to convey the Munich lifestyle alongside an international free spirit,”
explains Michael Wagner, COO of MHP Hotel AG. "For us, this means the
hotel doesn’t just welcome overnight guests but, equally, acts as a popular
spot for Munich residents. To achieve this, we not only created a fantastic
rooftop bar with a view over the city, but also developed a unique gastronomy
concept for Munich.”
The Koenigshof, designed by Nieto Sobejano Architects and Landau +
Kindelbacher, welcomes its guests in a spacious atrium. Slatted volumes and
large, gold-colored walls open up to historic Stachus, otherwise known as
Karlsplatz, providing connection between the interior and exterior of the
hotel, give it the feel of a luxurious urban sanctuary. Throughout the
interiors, art plays a key role. The collection on display represents
internationally-renowned artists such as Joseph Beuys, Christo and
Jeanne-Claude, and David John Flynn, among many others, and complements the
hotel's architecture and interior design.
A refined Interplay in the bathrooms

A minimalist design comprising simple, rectilinear forms and
timeless stone surfaces creates a sense of tranquility and balance in each of
the Koenighof’s bathrooms. To continue the luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere of
the hotels in the bathrooms, a selection of Axor products oft he collections
One and Starck complements the interior design: The one-lever basin faucets at
the washbasins and the thermostate modules and jet hand showers for the bath,
all in Brushed Black Chrome, are designed to exude a superior elegance. The stone
surfaces at the bathtubs and the washbasins plays visually with the
wall-mounted Axor products and the colour of the wall design itself.

intended to convey a feeling of Munich exclusivity. This is ensured by
personalised welcome cards with illustrations by Munich designer Alexandra von
Frankenberg, a fragrance created especially for the Koenigshof and specially
created delicacies such as the Koenigshof tea, the Koenigshof Bellini or the
teatime highlight, the Koenigshof cake - a Bavarian Prince Regent cake. Whether
breakfast with a local dishes or Latin American cuisine, the Koenigshof offers
culinary delights on different levels: from the day bar to the rooftop
