Still a clinic or already a hotel?

The high-quality bathrooms in the patient suite look like those in a hotel. The spacious washbasin with wall-mounted tap features a vanity mirror with a flexible swivelling arm, a hairdryer and an integrated paper towel dispenser.

They are among the most renowned orthopaedic clinics in Germany and their patients are called guests. And, according to their own statement, these guests enjoy hotel standards during their stay. We are talking about the Waldkliniken Eisenberg in Thuringia. Particularly striking: the imposing cylindrical building, designed by Milanese architect Matteo Thun. The new Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre also aims to build on the concept of first-class medical care and a high-quality stay.

The rooms in the new building have been designed to create a harmonious environment for guests – regardless of whether they have statutory or private health insurance. As with the orthopaedic clinic, Keuco is also represented in the bathroom equipment in the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre. The rooms and bathrooms provide guests, or patients, with safety, comfort and functionality during their rehabilitation, which is required after a hospital stay.

Patients are treated as guests at Waldkliniken Eisenberg and its Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Centre, and their stay should feel equivalent to a hotel experience. Surrounded by Thuringia's famous greenery, the centre transfers the soothing and healing power of the environment into its interiors. All single rooms are equipped with large windows. Lots of wood and soft, natural tones dominate the interior design and contribute to well-being. The rooms offer outstanding facilities, the likes of which are normally found in a premium hotel. The high standards of interior design continue into the bathrooms. All of the centre's bathrooms are equipped with fittings and accessories from Keuco. The products of the Plan Care and Axess series offer barrier-free functions without compromising on aesthetic elements.

Function and aesthetics

As in all patient rooms, Axess drop-down support handles are fitted next to the toilet. When they are not in use, they can simply be folded up and sit completely flat against the wall.

The Axess series was created in close cooperation with Studio F. A. Porsche. The minimalist design, focused on the essentials, combines aesthetics and barrier-free functionality in a stylish and innovative way. For example, when folded up, the drop-down supporting rail sits flat against the wall and is not recognisable as such at first glance. Thanks to the intricate structure of the inlay, the plastic is particularly easy to grip and prevents slipping when supporting or holding on. Toilet paper holders attached to the drop-down supporting rail allow direct access without having to turn or bend down to reach the paper.

Rooms from every category are equipped with stylish and modern bathrooms that still meet the demands of a hospital. Ease of cleaning in the bathroom is also particularly important here. Thanks to their perfect surface finish, Keuco products are particularly easy to clean and durable – regardless of whether they are chrome-plated or have an aluminium finish.
