Priesteregg Premium Eco Resort: Living in nature

Dornbracht’s Vaia forms appealing and seemingly organic ensembles with the wooden and natural stone washstands.

Mountain panoramas, forests, lakes and plenty of fresh air: Salzburger Land is definitely a destination for a holiday surrounded by nature. The Priesteregg Premium Eco Resort in Leogang has now expanded its offer for nature lovers. Since this summer, three lakeside cabins with their own bathing bay, panoramic sauna, hot tub, and wood-heated outdoor bathtub have been made available to guests. Fittings and the sculptural Aquahalo shower from the manufacturer Dornbracht are part of the furnishings.

“Our vision when converting the cabins was, on the one hand, to provide a setting for the remarkable location and wonderful nature of the immediate vicinity and to bring this inside through large glass panels. On the other hand, we wanted to combine an absolute feeling for nature with grounded luxury,” says Hubert Oberlader, owner, and host of the Priesteregg. For the residential ensembles, the previous mountain chalets were enlarged by around 50 square metres and fitted with generous glass fronts.

Lots of nature inside and outside

The freestanding Vaia in Brushed Platinum strengthens the link between traditional and modern, which shapes the design concept.

The lakeside cabins are located next to a natural pond, which has been transformed into a bathing lake – with its crystal-clear spring water. Lots of wood, natural stone, rustic tiles and a large glass front are connecting the Salzburg landscape with the living space of the cabins, whose interiors combine rugged Alpine charm with contemporary design elements.

The open-plan kitchen flows seamlessly into the dining and living area. Custom-made, rustic wooden furniture, fluffy armchairs, and numerous plants aim to create a cosy atmosphere. The free-standing bath is accompanied by the Vaia bath mixer, also free-standing, in brushed platinum. With its Transitional Style - in keeping with the overall design concept of the cabins - the fitting, designed by Sieger Design for Dornbracht, aims to emphasise the combination of the established and the new.

Living and wellness combined

Inspired by a classic crystal chandelier, the Aquahalo experience shower – seen here in Champagne (22kt Gold) – shapes an environment that is reminiscent of a grotto.

The upper floors also reflect this. In addition to the bedrooms, cosy sofa areas and an incomparable view of the natural bay await. The special feature: The bathrooms are directly integrated into the bedrooms. Vaia is found here on washstands made from wood and natural stone, with the Champagne (22kt Gold) finish harmonising with the warm, wood tones around it.

In the shower cubicle, which is reminiscent of a grotto, the water sculpture Aquahalo, also in Champagne, aims to make a design statement. The experience shower designed by Michael Neumayr for Dornbracht aims to create moments of relaxation for body and mind with its three jet types.

Innovative energy concept

The luxurious accommodation not only fulfils every wellness wish, it also proves to be a benchmark in terms of sustainability.

For hosts Renate and Hubert Oberlader, it was natural that the redesign of the chalets should go hand in hand with ecological optimisation. The considerate use of resources and the surrounding nature is in line with the philosophy and self-image of the mountain village. Almost the entire energy supply comes from renewable resources: Geothermal energy, air heat pumps, wastewater, heat pumps, ice storage, photovoltaics, bio-liquid gas, and biomass are used for this purpose.

Surplus heat from the lakeside cabins is fed directly into the energy centre and used to heat the water and pools. Energy is also extracted from the bathing lake in winter by means of a surface collector in the ground, which in turn is available for heating. A unique project in Europe that also serves research purposes. Various sensors in the lake collect valuable data for future, comparable projects with standing water.
