Eclectic-tailor-made design at Rosewood Munich

The
Hotel Rosewood Munich is embedded in an atmosphere of Munich's past. Located in
the centre of the old town, it is housed between two historic buildings: the
former Bayerische Staatsbank headquarters and the aristocratic residence Palais
Neuhaus-Preysing. The interior architectural practice Tara Bernerd &
Partners was responsible for the careful restoration and forward-looking design
of the interiors, breathing new life into the 74 rooms and public areas of the
Rosewood. For the bathrooms, the studio opted for a mix of different Axor collections.
Inspired
by the different cultures of the city, Bernerd’s studio designed “a
contemporary take on baroque architecture, combining sympathetic design that
melds with the historic elements of the building, to bring a distinctly modern,
Bavarian feel,” as they explain. Offsetting original features evocative of the
sites’ historic grandeur — such as vaulted ceilings and ornate frescoes — with
bespoke furnishings citing modernist influences spanning from Bauhaus to Space
Age, the Rosewood Munich welcomes guests with a diverse blend of design both
elegant and familiar that Bernerd simply calls “a refined residential style”.
Bathrooms take up design style

In addition
to standard Chrome, select fixtures at the Rosewood Munich are finished in
Brushed Gold Optic and Brushed Bronze, two of many exclusive FinishPlus
surfaces Axor offers.

This cohesive eclecticism curated by Bernerd also
extends to the bathrooms throughout the Rosewood Munich — namely, through the
use of different Axor collections. In the Rosewood’s wellness facilities — comprising
a swimming pool and spa — a blend of collections from Philippe Starck, Antonio
Citterio and the ShowerSolutions neatly complements the space’s modernist design,
minimalist architecture and vibrant, green-tiled shower areas. For the
bathrooms serving Rosewood’s in-house Bar Montez, Bernerd opted for the radical
simplicity of Uno in radiant Brushed Bronze to match the sophisticated design
of wooden trims and blue ceramics.
Tailor-made components

The tailor-made taps from different Axor Citterio collections complement the design of the marble and oak-clad bathrooms.

However,
it’s in the accommodations’ marble-and-o akwood bathrooms where the Rosewood
Munich’s spirit of contrasts culminates in the form of bespoke Citterio faucet
arrangements. Developed in collaboration with Axor Signature, the customization
service of Axor, the washbasin faucets feature a stylish component mix
comprising a curved spout from the sensuous Citterio M range and custom dual
cross handles from the angular Citterio E collection with escutcheons, also
from Citterio.
As
a special minimalist accent, bespoke pin-drop temperature markings have been
implemented in the center of the handles rather than on the escutcheon.
Together, the components form a harmonious fusion that accentuates the
bathroom’s refined palette of marble, oakwood and polished metal. In addition
to standard Chrome, select fixtures at the Rosewood Munich are finished in
Brushed Gold Optic and Brushed Bronze, two of many exclusive FinishPlus
surfaces Axor offers.
