Villa H: Neo-Basque elegance on the French Atlantic coast

Bathed in light: the Luv bathtub from Duravit is perfectly showcased in the light-suffused bathroom.

Enveloped in the scent of the ocean and lilac trees, the neo-Basque villa dating from 1925 on the picturesque bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz twinkles with a revived brilliance. The owner worked closely with the architect Stéphane Cividini during the property renovations.

The owner placed particular emphasis on the design of the main en-suite bathroom. Accessed directly from the main bedroom, the light-suffused bathroom of 15 m² on the upper floor is a genuine highlight. The pared-down design of the freestanding bathtub and the elegant washing-area solution with the sophisticated above-counter basin from the Luv collection from Duravit charmingly complement the minimalistic ambience.

Cosy atmosphere, tradition and modernity

Purist: the pared-down design of the Luv abovecounter basins complements the minimalistic ambience.

When redesigning the historic building, it was important to the architect and the client to preserve the regional architecture while integrating modern elements to create an ideal family home. The neo-Basque architectural style, such as the white stucco façades, the dark-green window frames and shutters, and the characteristic beams of the timber frame, was masterfully preserved – especially on the street side.

The spacious rooms of the villa and selected decorations are appointed in neutral shades such as white, black, and sand, creating a cozy atmosphere. The outside area has a lush garden with swimming pool and extensive terraces surrounded by varied vegetation such as palms and Indian lilac. The redesign of “Villa H” is an inspiring example of the symbiosis of a traditional architectural style and contemporary comfort.
