Axess: Keuco with barrier-free series by Studio F. A. Porsche
Clear lines
from the folding support rail to the stool - that is the hallmark of the new
Axess bathroom series from Keuco, which aims to combine design focused on the
essentials with barrier-free functionality. At the same time, this
functionality should not be obvious at first glance, but should take a back
seat to the minimalist appearance.
„It was our
wish to meet the highest aesthetic demands and yet incorporate specific needs
of a barrier-free bathroom system“, says Christian Schwamkrug, Design Director
Studio F. A. Porsche, about the design project. „Our aim was to develop
accessible bathroom products from a completely new perspective. Timeless, very
clear, aesthetic forms, permanently perceived as beautiful, even after many
years. Independent of the spirit of time and trends and at the same time,
beyond anything known so far.“
Accessibility meets design – in the object and private sector
A bathroom
without barriers brings many advantages, regardless of age and physical
constitution. With added comfort and safety, such bathrooms are ideally suited
to all life situations. In order to take into account our ageing and inclusive
society, bathrooms should be equipped with barrier-free products in new
buildings or renovations.
Axess is designed for barrier-free bathrooms in
high-quality healthcare facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes, in
hotels and in the home. The series aims to contribute to the comfortable and
safe use of all bathroom areas - not only for the elderly, those in need of
care or people with a physical disability, but for all generations. Intelligent
details are intended to support independence and autonomy in the bathroom.
The folding support rail – eleganz on the wall
For Keuco, the folding support
handle is the highlight of the collection: Available in the chrome, matt black
or chrome aluminium finishes, a grip-friendly plastic inlay in black or white
is seamlessly integrated. Thanks to its fine structure, the plastic is
particularly easy to grip and prevents slipping when supporting or holding on.
When folded up, the profiles of the folding handle slide apart. This makes it lie so flat against the wall that it is hardly recognisable as such.
Two different
projections in 700 and 850 mm offer safety and support. Looking at the large
projection, the folding support rail is also suitable for larger
wheelchair-accessible WCs. The optional and retrofittable radio WC flush
actuator integrates aesthetically into the handle and is compatible with radio
flush cisterns from common manufacturers via Bluetooth. The optional and retrofittable toilet
paper holder has a black or white roller stopper and is available matching the
colour design. The
folding support handles are TÜV tested, certified according to DIN standard and
proven with 115 kg load capacity.
The rail system – elegant and ergonomic
The rail
system and the grab rails of the Axess range are characterised by their reduced
design. At the front, the design of the grip surfaces is kept in a flat
rectangular band - with flat surfaces and precise edges. At the back, the rail
and grip system and the handles are ergonomically shaped in a semicircle - for
an optimised grip. The oval rounded back perfectly fits in the hand when
grasping and thus has the advantage that it is not necessary to exert much
force when holding on. This is about to ensure a secure grip and a reliable
hold.
In the
shower, the rail system can be flexibly adapted to suit on-site conditions. The
shower rail also serves as a stable grab rail and gives a safe feeling at all
times. The shower slider can be unlocked and moved up or down by simply
pressing on the back with just one hand. The shower head can also be turned to
the left and right in the holder without any problems and can be tilted up and
down in various positions.
The stool – mobile seating in the bathroom
The design of the stool also
follows a simple standard: as reduced as possible, as safe as possible, as
comfortable as possible. In an archetypal, timeless design, the stool takes up
little space in the bathroom and fits in any corner. Although it is easy to
move with only one hand, it is particularly stable. With a
load capacity of 150 kg, it is suitable for both private and public areas. The discretely outward-facing legs with anti-slip ensure a stable
and secure standing position.
The softly
roughened, non-slip surface of the seat has a pleasant feel and is easy to
clean. The small hole in the middle of the seat, which is slightly curved
inwards, allows water to drain off directly in the shower. With a white or
black seat the mobile stool offers two colour versions. With a white seat, you
can choose between chrome or aluminium legs; with a black seat, the legs are
also in black. Axess is intended to ensure a long service life as well as to support the nursing staff.
