The Seegarten Hotel and Restaurant of the famous TV chef Olaf Baumeister is located very close to the waterfront promenade of Lake Sorpese in the Sauerland. The exclusive location, the renowned restaurant and the nice architecture predestine the 4-star hotel as a haven of well-being for anyone seeking rest and relaxation. When selecting the products for the bathroom, the hotel opted for Kaldewei and Dornbracht manufacturers from the region.

Since the owner and operator Olaf Baumeister took over the traditional house from his parents in 1992, he has been continually renewing and extending the buildings and interiors ever since. In 2014, for instance, he added the ‘Lofthaus’, whose infinity pool shares the view on the forests, the lake and the sky. Lately, more rooms have been completely renovated and refurbished for which Berlin’s Studio Aisslinger was commissioned. In its overall concept for the hotel fittings and shower solutions from Dornbracht and new washbowls from Kaldewei were key elements.

High-quality bathroom interiors from the region

The Centro Duo bathtub from Kaldewei and the Meta fitting from Dornbracht aim to calm the pattern of the distinctive terrazzo natural stone with their simple elegance.

The characteristically clear and ambitious layout of the Hotel Seegarten conveys a sense of clarity and spaciousness and produces living areas fitted with high-quality furniture and bathroom interiors. Most of the materials that were used, such as wood and stone, are untreated. The materials and the choice of products express a clear acknowledgement of the quality to be found in the region: The style of lighting, the furniture and the home accessories all originate exclusively from the Sauerland.

Thus, fittings and shower solutions from the Meta series and the Aquamoon wellness shower from Dornbracht were installed, as well as 14 Centro Duo bathtubs from the manufacturer Kaldewei – both companies whose respective headquarters are located in the same region as the hotel. “The special thing about the Hotel Seegarten is that traditionally we select the entire interior from the region and sustainably: from clay plaster on the walls, to small items like switches and cables, to bathroom objects made of steel enamel. This is not only extremely well received by our suppliers, but of course also by our guests, who love the stories behind the products,” explains hotelier Olaf Baumeister proudly.

Expressive, clear design meets open space concept

Natural materials were also predominantly used in the bathrooms of the Hotel Seegarten.

In the open and functional interior design concept of the new designer rooms only one small wall and inclined, light wooden slats separate the bathroom area from the rest of the room. There, the floor, parts of the wall and the bath surround were covered in distinctive terrazzo natural stone, which is also used for the washstand. On it, in 49 of the guest bathrooms a real design novelty is placed: the Nueva washbasins from Kaldewei, designed by Werner Aisslinger. The Hotel Seegarten is the first hotel in the world to use these new washbowls before the official start of sales. Made of recyclable steel enamel the Nueva washbasins are meant to be suitable for luxurious hotel bathrooms and wellness areas as well as for exclusive private spas and public areas. The model is available in all common sanitary colours as well as in the shades of the Coordinated Colours Collection from Kaldewei.

High-contrast: monochrome elegance meets eye-catching patterns

The fittings from the Meta series as free-standing single-lever mixers create exciting contrasts to the Nueva wash bowls at the washbasin.

Behind the white washbasin two fittings from the Meta series from Dornbracht – free-standing single-lever mixers in Black matt – are mounted. A concept of maximum reduction, with a technoid, almost sculptural appearance makes a confidently stylish statement here. Another Meta is fitted right next to the bath – this time a single-lever wall-mounted mixer. Here too, the monochrome elegance of the Black matt fitting contrasts subtly with the warm greys of the natural stone, stabilising its striking pattern and the polished surfaces. “I have a passion for superb design, high-quality materials and exceptional surface finishes. We have found in Dornbracht a partner who more than meets these requirements. I was even more convinced by knowing that the fittings come from Iserlohn,” Olaf Baumeister adds about his preference for working with premium manufacturers from the region.
