At the Lighthouse Hotel & Spa Büsum guests
can experience how nature has influenced the interior design and how accessible
solutions from Hewi fit aesthetically into the overall concept. The popular
holiday destination Büsum is characterised by sea, beach and wind. Besides
picturesque landscapes, the North Sea also has its rough side, when storms rage
and the waves roar.
This diverse character of the coastal landscape
has been incorporated by the architecture firm into the design idea for the hotel.
The large building volume was divided into small individual structures and
conveys a typical North German harbour charm. To the observer, the Lighthouse
Hotel & Spa thus looks like an ensemble of different buildings which, in
addition to the hotel, also houses three restaurants, conference rooms, a
delicatessen, two shops and a harbour pub. The result is a stylish design hotel
with 111 rooms and apartments.
Accessibility meets Industrial Design
Like a red thread, black building and design
elements run through the design of the hotel. With an elegant dark powder
coating the Hewi System 900 solutions blend elegantly into the industrial
design of red brick and matt black elements of the interior design and enable a
stylish design of accessible hotel bathrooms.
Hewi’s System 900 is designed to support people
with limited mobility. There is a variety of shower seats which allows for a
custom-fitted solution. Fixed shower seats, suspended seats or mobile solutions
are also available. They can be folded back onto the wall to save space. The
hanging seat is particularly light, weighing less than 9 kg which means it is
easy to carry without much effort. A pleasant, non-slip surface as well as a
slightly moulded seat makes for a comfortable and safe feeling when sitting.

lighthouse and the museum harbour. The design concept is a melange of maritime
influences and industrial design. The interior design appears graceful and
