Axor Universal Accessories: the Aesthetics of Order

09/14

Modular, multifunctional and universally usable: with the Universal Accessories range, Axor is offering for the first time a cross-collection system of complementary items. The range consists of various rails, shelf elements and holders that can either be used individually or as an integrated system for the bathroom and, in some cases, the kitchen. Hansgrohe developed the series for Axor together with architect and designer Antonio Citterio.

After graduating in architecture from the Politecnico di Milano, architect and designer Antonio Citterio (*1950) founded his own studio in 1972. Between 1987 and 1996 he worked together with Terry Dwan to design numerous buildings in Europe and Japan. In 1999 he founded the studio “Antonio Citterio and Partners” together with Milan-born Patricia Viel. Since 2006 he is professor for architecture at the Università della Svizzera Italiana, Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio.

“The top-class individual components can be combined to create attractive and harmonious accessory solutions," says head of Axor Philippe Grohe of the design brand’s new collection. “If need be, they can be reconfigured or even supplemented with additional elements. This makes it considerably easier to design the space individually.”

“Accessories have a significant impact on the overall impression a room makes,” adds Antonio Citterio. “They are an important part of the interior. When it came to my design, that meant creating products that are both aesthetic and functional: the rails for instance, double as shelf space for other accessories when used inside the shower or as towel holders outside the shower.”

The twelve individual products in the accessories range feature a timelessly elegant design. The large surfaces and clear lines testify to premium quality, whilst the soft edges and gentle curves exude elegance and give the products a pleasant feel. Select materials like chrome-plated metal, mirrored and white glass help ensure durability, hygiene and easy cleaning. In addition, the Axor Universal Accessories can easily be integrated with different styles and combined with numerous fittings collections. Special customer requests are dealt with by the in-house Axor Manufaktur facility. The Universal Accessories are available with six very scratchproof and detergent-resistant PVD finishes, each of which comes in polished and brushed variants: chrome, gold effect, red-gold, black chrome, nickel and bronze.
