Joyce by Villeroy & Boch: the bathroom with apps

05/13

Individualisation remains one of the strongest trends of the present day. Fashion and accessories are becoming ever more personalised. With just a few internet clicks, shirts, bags and shoes can be individually styled and glasses frames are quickly matched to clothing. More and more people are taking advantage of the many opportunities to express their individuality, also in their home interiors. Modern families in particular, who turn to project management techniques to organise their everyday lives, value creativity and flexibility in their homes. They opt for versatile projects that can be used for the individual design of their living space – even in the bathroom.

Villeroy & Boch has seized upon this trend and playfully interpreted it to create a new complete series for the bathroom: Joyce, the bathroom with apps. Joyce allows the creation of bathrooms that are constantly changing and that can be flexibly adapted to the needs, wishes and moods of users. The concept utilizes interchangeable, functional accessories, the so-called apps, with which the bathroom can be individualised as desired – and can be changed again and again.

Conceived as a comprehensive complete bathroom collection, Joyce includes all product categories: sanitary ceramics, bathroom furniture and accessories, all of which are about to convince in their functionality. Joyce is characterised by the depth of the basins, the shelving surfaces, the flush volumes, and the storage spaces, differentiating the concept from other collections. In addition, the specially developed bathroom accessories, the apps, provide particular individualisation options.

As a Villeroy & Boch brand collection Joyce is about to combines design, quality and functionality. The design of the sanitary ceramics is delicate and fine. All the washbasins are fitted with a ceramic valve, a design siphon has been developed for the wall-mounted WC, and the new WC SlimSeat has an attractively slender design and is equipped with the convenient Soft Closing and Quick Release function.

The washbasins have extra deep, circular bowls and a generous ceramic shelf. They are available in several sizes and versions: a 130cm double washbasin and an 80cm or a 65cm washbasin, all with an app shelf offering space for personalised accessories. The 100cm double washbasin, the 60cm washbasin and the 45cm hand-washbasin come without an app shelf. Tap fittings can be positioned on either the right or the left on all the washbasins. There is also the option of integrating the soap dispenser, which can be conveniently filled from above. A further highlight is provided by the dots – ceramic valve covers in the trend colours featured by the apps.

The exchangeable apps – dishes, vases and sets of soap dishes – mean that the washbasin can be instantly transformed according to mood and occasion. All the apps are provided with a soft, magnetic pad underneath that gives them secure purchase on various materials and ensures they can be securely placed on the washbasin. The washbasins can also be fitted with a magnet so that the apps sit firmly without scratching the ceramic. The app-vase can, for instance, display a single flower to best advantage or be used for fragrance sticks to conjure up a pleasant room scent.

Particularly practical are the stackable app-dishes in different heights, optionally with various compartments. With a handy place for everything needed in the bathroom, such as a toothbrush or razor, they provide a sense of order. Like the ceramic valve cover, they are available in White, in the earth tone Peru, in warm yellow Sahara and in blue-grey Bali. The app-dishes come with internal dividers. The lids and system lids can be ordered separately.

Extra-tip: All the apps, such as the app-vase, can also be used as decorative elements outside of the bathroom, as they are all produced from the high-quality Villeroy & Boch tableware porcelain.

Also the Joyce bathroom furniture bring beside innovative storage space exciting colour into the bathroom. Two different designs of fronts are available. There is unicoloured furniture with classical fronts in Glossy White, Glossy Grey, White Matt, Terra Matt, Elm Impresso and Oak Graphite, and there is the innovative bathroom furniture Joyce Touch. Here a Glossy White body is combined with coloured front-inlays that come in fine wood in an oak shade and in a special softtouch gloss in the colours Sahara, Bali and Peru to match the apps and offer a new dimension of balence in the bathroom.

The vanity units lie perfectly flush with the ceramic and the inset, slender handles differentiate the design of the fronts. The interior of the furniture offers convincing functionality, providing organised, clever storage space also suitable for small bathrooms.

In the multifunction-cabinet for example are two electrical sockets with a pull-out shelf so that the hairdryer or electric shaver can be conveniently stored while immediately ready for use. A waste-bin is also integrated into the cabinet. Like the washbasins, this side cabinet offers an app-shelf for the integration of the app-dishes, the app-vase or even a box of tissues. With so much order in such a small space the cabinet is also absolutely perfect for attractive guest bathrooms.

A last highlight: An online configurator facilitates the choice and combination of products. It provides various 3D photorealistic visualisations and the possibility of switching between two different perspectives. Configurations may be saved and forwarded via Facebook, Twitter or Google plus.
