The German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung
Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. / VDS) is the umbrella organisation for German
companies in the bathroom and sanitary sectors and consists of nine member
associations from industry, specialist wholesale and the specialist trades. The
SME segment of the industry includes 49,071 companies from all three areas (142
companies in the sanitary industry, including other technical building valves,
269 wholesale companies, 48,660 skilled trade and fitting companies; the
wholesale and skilled trade companies are also active in the HVAC sector) with
a combined total turnover of €27,2bn and a workforce of 547,000 people
(total workforce of the industry as a whole, wholesale, skilled trades).

The VDS presents the joint interests of its members to
the public, in particular by means of comprehensive PR and publicity for the
bathroom as living space. In addition to addressing the increasing demand for
individual – and increasingly age-appropriate – solutions, the industry also meets
its responsibility for the sustainable use of resources with water-saving
bathroom technology and expert installation.
The VDS is listed in both the German Federal
Parliament’s Register of Associations and the European Commission’s Register of
Lobbyists. Click here for further information about the VDS.
