Lecture at Pop up Atelier: Torsten Müller about luxury bathrooms

03/17

Bathroom designer Torsten Müller presents luxurious bathroom and private spa creations and exclusive luxury products, from washbasin and shower fittings made of 1.5kg of 21-carat gold and studded with diamonds, emeralds, rubies or sapphires all the way to bathroom accessories. Exclusive bathtub design worth up to €1m could well stand for a new “Donald Trump design”.

Torsten Müller is a renowned bathroom/spa and room designer, columnist, TV expert and consultant to international manufacturers and skilled trade professionals. After being featured as a top designer in interior design magazine SCHÖNER WOHNEN back in 2006, he has gone on to set new standards in spa and interior architecture across Europe. From Paris to Milan, he attends all the continent’s leading design trade fairs in his capacity as a trend scout. A number of his product designs have been nominated for the German Design Award.

Luxurious bathroom architecture is bringing producers, dealers and much sought-after specialist retailers the hoped-for profits. In prosperous major cities, the wholesale sector has long since homed in on this development with highly exclusive showrooms and competent advisors – who are now themselves approaching consumers directly. Some of the bigger manufacturers are also systematically addressing the demand for customisation and buying up owner-managed SMEs in order to secure additional USPs. As a result of this predatory competition, the playing fields in the bathroom business are getting smaller. Anybody who wants to keep a high profile in the market should consider adjusting to accommodate customer-specific requirements in good time. Modern, exclusive and emotional bathroom design is more in demand than ever before: it is fragrant, features mood-enhancing lighting and can fill the tub with water digitally via an app – style and function are being personalised across the board. Welcome to reality!
