Lecture by Holger Roßberg about robotic shower systems
Higher life expectancy is the defining feature of current sociodemographic changes. But this also means that the risk of age-related, chronic conditions is increasing, as well as the numbers of those who have lost certain abilities. Alongside the physical and emotional aspects, being able to wash oneself is a crucial factor in leading an independent and dignified life. If a person loses this ability, he or she will become dependent on support from relatives or carers, or will be required to move into a care home. ICT-based robotic systems can support people with (age-related) impairments in maintaining their personal hygiene, thereby compensating for their loss of strength and mobility.
