Pop up my Bathroom Atelier: The Trend Forum for Architects and Bathroom Planners at the ISH 2015

02/15

At the international ISH trade fair in Frankfurt (10th to 14th March), the “Pop up my Bathroom Atelier” lecture programme will again be shining a spotlight on the latest trend developments in the sanitary industry. The Pop up my Bathroom trend forum provides an abundance of ideas, informative presentations and fascinating panel discussions with distinguished speakers and international participants.

“With the ‘Pop up my Bathroom Atelier’ lecture programme, we aim to offer architects, interior designers and ambitious bathroom planners a forum where they can find out about the latest developments in the sector,” says Jens J. Wischmann, Managing Director of the German Sanitary Industry Association (Vereinigung Deutsche Sanitärwirtschaft e.V. [VDS]). “We were able to engage some very interesting speakers for the last ISH, when the Pop up my Bathroom Atelier was first launched. And with the fascinating contributions we’ve got lined up for this year, I’m confident we’ll even surpass our excellent debut.”

The service also includes several regularly recurring basic events. Design journalist Frank A. Reinhardt will be kicking off the daily lecture programme with a presentation entitled “The 10 Most Important Trends for the Bathroom Experience”, providing an overview of current developments in the sanitary sector and presenting the hotspots at this year’s ISH.

Panel discussions dealing with themes such as the multigenerational bathroom, the bathroom of the future, health aspects in the bathroom and design approaches for new-build bathrooms will also be held on a daily basis and likewise form an important part of the agenda. At the end of each day of the trade show, interior decorators, industry representatives and bathroom planners will be discussing the themes everyone in the sector is talking about.

It goes without saying that the Pop up my Bathroom Atelier 2015 will be exploring the megatrends in the industry too, and when the trade fair opens its doors on the Tuesday there will be several presentations on the theme of Universal Design on the agenda. On the Wednesday, several speakers will be looking into the future of the bathroom, pointing out new design approaches and calling attention to some fascinating modern technologies. The Thursday will focus on health, giving the audience some interesting insights into the healing effects of water and showing how a private bathroom can be transformed into a home spa. Events on the Friday are mainly geared towards architects, with design approaches such as integrative architecture and modern space layouts on the agenda.

But the trend forum will be addressing more general themes as well. Light, materials and colour will play a particularly important role in various presentations – including those by colour experts Dr. Hildegard Kalthegener and Prof. Axel Venn. This year, Poland is the partner country at the world’s leading trade fair for sanitaryware – and as an attentive host, the forum will of course be taking a look at current design developments in the Polish market too. However, the highlight of the series of lectures will no doubt be an event featuring a very prominent guest. As Bathroom Ambassador of the VDS, world swimming champion Franziska van Almsick will be hosting a question-and-answer session on the Atelier stage on the Wednesday of the trade fair.

The lecture forum is located in the special “Pop up my Bathroom” exhibition in Hall 3.0. All lectures will be simultaneously translated into English or German as appropriate.
