Duravit was on the winners' podium three times at the 2012 universal design award. It won the universal design award and the universal design consumer favourite award for its innovative OpenSpace shower partition, which was acclaimed by both the expert and the consumer jury, and received a further universal design award for its latest universal bath covers.

Both products have been designed by the Viennese design group EOOS and both enlarge the usable space in the bathroom. OpenSpace is a shower partition which can be folded away after use, transforming it into a discreet wall panel which tidily conceals tap fittings, shower attachments, shower gels and shampoos. This new form of partition thus also enables greater freedom of movement in the bathroom – a particular benefit for small bathrooms.

The new, universal bathtub covers made in high-quality artificial leather turn various bathtub models by Duravit in additional surface for sitting or lying on. Simply placed on the rim of the bathtub the four stable elements placed alongside one another cover the bathtub completely. Flexible in use the elements serve if desired as comfortable seating for a foot bath or provide the perfect tray whilst luxuriating in the bath.
